KEITH PROCTORS ART BLOG

DOWN HILL RACER : Original oil 20" x 20" available direct , keithproctor@live.co.uk
There is a lot of paint on this one , i recently started using super heavy gesso which is basically a thick white primer used to prepare the canvas before painting , i apply it with a pallet knife , let it dry and then coloured the surface blue and green before painting .
To paint the snow i used Titanium white mixed with Turquoise and a large flat brush , snow changes colour throughout the day reflecting the colour of the sky and it looked Turquoise, the red sledge is the opposite of green and the blue of his wellies is the opposite to the orange of his hands , happy with this :)

Hi Keith
Joanne alerted me to this recent painting and your blog.
Love the snow - it looks like frosting on a cake!
Have looked at the orhers on here and the one called I was born ready echoes the start of my story Saluting Magpies. It starts I was born knowing. Freaky!
Hope ur all well. I'm off to Alnmouth for Easter. It's only 50 mins up the road but I'm all excited - it's got seaviews. Wxx

Love the texture, and the way his coat blends in with the snow at the back, great movement and loads of interest. I recently painted 3 paintings of my grandson inspired by your paintings of Jack, enjoyed so much the process.
