Down Dean Street

This painting is taken from a photo I took while walking up Dean Street on the banks of the Tyne In Newcastle , I will be going back to the same spot soon to catch the legs of the men and women( to paint ) on there nights out, I will have to watch my self though as people sometimes do not like to be photographed , especially when they have had a drink or two in the bigg market ! I could find myself "in" the Tyne, as well as Photographing it !

  1. this is powerful: the manner of the man walking towards you, the lightness of step of the young men, beautifully captured Keith. if i didn't know your work, i'd be worried about the legs bit in your post:)

  2. Thanks Rahina
You know its legs to paint but the trouble is people dont know what I am up to , especialy when taking photos of women and children, I am going to get a big sticker or badge that says harmless "Artist at work"

  3. Keith, another great painting. These "against the light" paintings really pack a punch. Having said that, yes, it is a bit risky taking pics of people in the street. I think I get away with it because they see me as a little old lady (which I don't believe I am but I play up to that image). I sometimes pretend to be taking pics of buildings when I am actually taking pics of people - and I continue to "study" the architecture of said building even when I lower my camera after the shot is taken. Another thing is to get as far away as you can and use the zoom feature on the camera and then the digital zoom on the computer screen. What a performance!
